Reheat Furnace Foundation
This is the new re heat furnace under construction at Steelton. This new furnace will replace an older heating method. The efficient new furnace will afford less energy consumption, improved quality and lower cost. The project is expected to be complete in 2013.
New Bloom Yard Cranes
Once the reheat furnace is complete, Steelton will be able to “ uncouple” steelmaking from our current heating practice. This will afford the opportunity to produce longer cast strings of our rolled products. The bloom yard will inventory and store the steel for future production. This image depicts the new bloom yard cranes which will move the steel within storage to the new furnace.
